NYLT is an exciting, action-packed program designed to provide youth members of the Boy Scouts of America with leadership skills and experiences that they can use in their home Troop or Crew and in other situations demanding quality leadership. This training integrates the best of modern leadership theory with Scouting. Through activities, presentations, challenges, and discussions, NYLT participants are engaged in a unified approach to leadership. Using a wide range of activities events, games, and adventures, participants put into action the leadership skills they are learning.

Objectives of National Youth Leadership Training

• Develop confidence and knowledge to conduct unit programming
• Understand the stages of Team Development
• Find personal vision and set SMART goals
• Provide opportunities to share ideas and experiences with others
• Experience conflict resolution and learn ethical decision-making skills

Who attends National Youth Leadership Training
If you are a leader in your unit or are looking to serve in a leadership role, then NYLT is for YOU!

Requirements & Expectations:

1. Scouts must be registered in a troop and be at least First-Class rank. Scouts in troops must be at least 13 years of age, but not yet 18 by day one of the course.
2. Live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law at all times.
3. Attend the entire course: If a Scout does not attend the full course they will not receive credit for the course.
4. Unit leader approval 
5. Attend the mandatory NYLT orientation meeting with your parent or guardian.
