| Applications for the 2022 Wood Badge course director and back-up course director are now being accepted. Before completing the online application, please review the positions listed below and the eligibility requirements. The Course Director Position Serves during the Wood Badge course as Scoutmaster of Gilwell Troop 1. The course director needs to have a complete understanding of the role of the Scoutmaster as presented in the Troop Leader Guidebook, #616729. The course director must have a complete understanding of the 2020 revised Wood Badge course curriculum. Present the content and activities of the course curriculum without additions, deletions or shortcuts and ascribe to the Five Central Themes and 14 Leadership competencies of the course. The Back-Up Course Director Position Serves during the Wood Badge course as an Assistant Scoutmaster of Gilwell Troop 1. The back-up course director needs to have a complete understanding of the role of the Scoutmaster as presented in the Troop Leader Guidebook, #616729. The back-up course director must have a complete understanding of the 2020 revised Wood Badge course curriculum. Be prepared to execute the course as Scoutmaster if the course director is unable to continue the course. Present the content and activities of the course curriculum without additions, deletions or shortcuts and ascribe to the Five Central Themes and 14 Leadership competencies of the course. To serve as a Wood Badge course director or back-up course director, a Scouter must have the following qualifications: - Must be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America and a strong supporter of the Chattahoochee Council.
- Must have completed the Wood Badge course and received the Wood Badge beads.
- Must have extensive experience in several Scouting programs as either a volunteer Scouter or a BSA professional.
- Must have served on the staff of a Wood Badge course as Troop Guide, as well as in at least One Additional required Wood Badge staff position or in an adult NYLT staff position.
