2020 Camp Card Sales

UPDATED: April 30, 2020

Thank you for participating in the sale in 2020. Months of planning have gone into the 2020 Camp Card sale to offer the best vendor discounts and incentives for our units and their Scouts to participate in the camp card sale. Camp Cards should be ready for distribution at the March Roundtable for each district. Please see the Leader Guide and calendar for dates.

There is no doubt that the 2020 Camp Card Sale has taken one unexpected turn after another. The safety of our Scouts, Scouting families, volunteers, and our community partners is paramount in Scouting and for now, the best thing our Scouts can do is follow the governor’s order to Stay At Home. For Scouts that rely on the annual Camp Card sale to help pay their way to summer resident camps or day camps, the loss of the sale could mean not being able to attend camp this summer.

In addition to the support that the Camp Card sale generates for Scouts, the sale also provides critical support for the Chattahoochee Council to fulfill its mission in supporting local Scouting programs. Recognizing the overall impact the loss of the Camp Card sale would have both on our Scouts and the council, the Chattahoochee Council is offering and promoting a new alternative we call it the Virtual Camp Card Sale.

What is a Virtual Camp Card Sale?

We are sure this isn’t the only question that you have. The Virtual Camp Card Sale is a safe, risk-free way for Scouts and units to participate in this year’s sale. It’s simple. It doesn’t require anyone from the unit to go anywhere, pick anything up, or to do anything that they can’t do from the safety of their own home. The Virtual Camp Card Sale will continue through June 19, 2020, through the Council Online Store. However, please note that the physical Camp Cards need to be returned and payments settled to the Scout Service Center before June 12, 2020.

See the Amendment to the Leader's Guide for more information.

How do I participate?

If your unit signed out cards before the Virtual Sale, units can continue to sell cards virtually on their own. If the unit doesn’t have the online store capability through their unit, such as SQUARE, VEMO, or other payment platform, Scouts can direct customers to the Chattahoochee Council Camp Card Online Store. While there, customers will need to enter the Scout’s unit number and the Scout’s name so that we can appropriately credit the sales to the Scout/unit. Below are some Virtual Tools to help your Virtual sale be successful.

If your unit did not sign up for the Camp Card sale and you wish to participate, please let your leadership know and begin to sell right away. If you are unsure whether your unit signed up, please contact your Cubmaster or Scoutmaster to direct you to your unit Camp Card Chairman. They will then contact their District Executive for additional assistance.

How will cards be distributed?

Cards will be mailed directly to the customer from the Chattahoochee Council. We will mail cards every two weeks following the schedule below:

  • Orders received by May 7 will be shipped on May 8
  • Orders received by May 21 will be shipped on May 21
  • Orders received by June 4 will be shipped on June 5
  • Orders received by June 18 will be shipped June 19

Will the sale be extended?

At this point, the end date of the sale is June 12, 2020, for all physical cards distributed to the units. We have granted an additional extension of June 19, 2020, to accommodate a virtual week of sales because of the uncertainty of when the Stay at Home order will be lifted.

Extended! 3 More Weekly Drawing

A Scout is Thrifty! With that said, we have listed a few ways below to sell cards virtually. We are embracing technology and using the e-commerce model to promote a 4 7 week Council incentive that will be divided by District. That's one winner per District every week for 4 7 weeks!

  • When will the incentive begin? The incentive competition will begin Friday, April 3, 2020, and will run through Friday, May 22, 2020.
     Friday, May 1, 2020
  • Is this incentive going to affect the incentive for free camp? No! Everyone wins. Not only do you have a chance to win a weekly prize, but your unit keeps 50% of the Camp Card sale, plus Scouts get to choose the Camp that they qualify for at no cost as outlined in the Leaders Guide.
  • Do I have to sell my Camp Cards Virtually to qualify? No! You can sell your cards any way you like, as long as you are practicing safe measures to conduct your transactions.
  • How will it be measured? Using a Scout is Trustworthy! Every scout that sells 3 Camp cards will be entered for a prize drawing on Friday of every week.
  • How do we know if we win? All entries will need to be submitted by the Unit Card Chair via email to their District Executive no later than 2 PM on Fridays. Your District Executive will then enter those names to be pulled from a drawing on the Chattahoochee Council Facebook Live event that will be held at 3PM on Fridays.
  • What if I sell more than 3 cards? You get 1 entry for every 3 cards sold. Sell 6 cards, get 2 entries. Sell 9 cards, get 3 entries and so on.
  • What if I need more Cards? Please contact your Unit Camp Card Chairman to get additional cards. All chairmen needing additional cards for their units, please contact your District Executive.

Camp Card Sale Incentives During COVID-19

The safety and health of our Scouts, Leaders, and Scout families is the first priority of the Chattahoochee Council. While our response aims to minimize the spread of the virus, we continue to encourage our Scouts to virtually scout on and scout at home. #WeWillScoutOn #ScoutingAtHome

Ideas to close your virtual Camp Card Sale:

  • Using social media/email to spread sale awareness and efforts is a great way to sell safely. Parents can video their Scout in Class A uniform and share it with their cyber friends. Cards can be paid for by using Paypal, Zelle, Cash Out, Google Pay, Cash App, or Venmo. These are recommendations of app-based payment options, each unit should properly research and make their best choice. After payment is received and confirmed, the Scout can then mail the camp card to the purchaser. This can serve as a valuable learning lesson as to how online sale transactions occur in today’s e-marketplace. Plus, Scouts have an opportunity to send a thank you note to their supporters.
  • Have your Scout dress in their Class A uniform. Allow your Scout to take part in your work video conference call and make a sales pitch to those on the video conference. Parents, please ask your employer for permission before proceeding. Let your employer know that this is in support of your local Scouting program.
  • With parental supervision and in Class A uniform, Scouts could call or video conference local businesses such as dentists, doctors, law offices, etc. asking the business owners to purchase several camp cards to use with their clients, customers, or staff. Camp Cards are a great Thank You or recognition item. Ask these businesses to support local Scouting programs through their purchase of our camp cards.
  • Churches are another option for sales, ask them to feature your scout in the bulletin to promote camp card sales to their members via their emails or social media.

What is a Camp Card?

The Camp Card is a discount card for local vendors. We have three different Camp Cards to cover all of the counties we serve. Scouts who participate in the camp card sale are earning 50% commission on each card sold and may be eligible for prizes.
